Consent
Igloofest Québec is committed to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants. Understanding and respecting sexual consent are fundamental to this commitment.
-
- Communicate Clearly: Use direct and explicit language.
- Listen Actively: Pay attention to your partner’s verbal and non-verbal cues. Silence or hesitation is not consent.
- Respect Boundaries: Accept and respect all limits set by your partner. If they say no or stop, honor their decision immediately.
-
- Verbal Confirmation: A clear “yes” or enthusiastic affirmation.
- Non-Verbal Cues: Positive body language and active participation.
- Ongoing Agreement: Continuously check in to ensure everyone is comfortable.
-
- Assumption: Never assume consent based on past interactions or the absence of a “no.”
- Pressure: Consent given under pressure, manipulation, or threat is not valid.
- Impairment: If someone is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they may not be able to give informed consent.
-
- Zero-Tolerance Policy: We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for any form of sexual violence or assault. Offenders will be removed from the festival.
- Consent-awareness posters in all festival-goer toilets.
